Third City
Website and brand update.
A more expressive system built from a single idea
The same icon, but bolder, more expressive and adaptable. Different shapes can represent sectors like Sustainability, Finance, Technology, Policy, Infrastructure, Innovation, Culture and Data, creating a flexible but recognisable visual language.
Building a brand with character
These shapes become building blocks for ads, announcements and thought leadership — from hiring posts to campaign moments. The goal is a consistent, confident identity that gives Third City more personality and presence.

Making Shapes
The identity is designed to bring character and variation. Using the three core building forms, we can create a series of distinctive shapes and compositions that become ownable visual devices across presentations, the website and day-to-day communications. These shapes can frame content, highlight ideas, and signal different themes from Opinions and think pieces to job ads, announcements and internal materials.
It gives Third City a simple but expressive visual language, allowing everyday communications to feel consistent, recognisable and importantly... show personality.

Make it move.
Motion and composition bring the identity to life — revealing the character of Third City across Opinions, work, people and ideas. From animated shapes to expressive layouts, the system allows the brand to feel active, responsive and full of personality. Together, these elements create a living cross-section of the company — not just what Third City does, but how it thinks, speaks and shows up.
For projects with fewer visual assets, we’ll present them in a consistent and considered way using the client’s logo as the primary work card. These cards will be designed to reflect the client brand, rather than a specific visual from the work itself, creating a more cohesive and balanced overview of projects.
Once clicked, the case study will reveal the detail and substance of the work. Where multiple non-visual projects exist for a single client, we may also consolidate them into one client-focused case study — helping to tell a stronger, more complete story while keeping the work section clear and easy to navigate.

We’ve grouped the work into three areas: Attention, Influence and Reputation. These reflect the different ways Third City helps clients shape conversations, from generating cut-through and leading debate to building long-term credibility.
It’s not a rigid system, more a useful concept and starting point for navigating the work. Many projects will naturally span more than one area, but together they help frame the role Third City plays.

We’re making the homepage work harder — not just as a showcase of work, but as a window into who Third City is. By mixing Opinions, work, news and internal updates, the page becomes lighter, brighter and full of character, bringing more of the company’s personality to the surface.
This approach helps create a living snapshot of Third City — what we’ve done, how we think and who we are. Rather than a static bank of projects, the homepage becomes an open invitation: this is Third City — come and say hello.
